Seychelles

Paradise found!

Picture this . . . .

Calm, turquois water
Soft, white sand
Red, granite rocks and mountains
Green, flourishing forests
Bright red and yellow birds
Purple flowers
Natural fresh-water waterfalls
And a full moon!

No pictures, videos, or descriptions can do
this place justice! It is without doubt, the most beautiful place Michael and I have ever been
to, and probably will ever be!

We spent the first three nights on Seychelle's second largest island, Praslin. We had heard that this
island is said to be the "original garden of eden," and we can certainly see why! Of course, the first
thing we did was arrange to go scuba-diving. The site we dove at is called Roch Es Bas, meaning, rocks below. The dive was incredible and we saw hundreds of species of fish, living coral, and jewel toned shells. It was one of our best dives ever!

It just so happens that the beech rated "the best on the planet" by Travel and Leisure magazine, is located on Praslin. It is called Anse Lasio. Michael and I have never seeing anything quite like this before. At our first glance, we had no choice but to stop, open jawed, with the most wonderful feeling of bliss.

MICHAEL BUILDING SAND CASTLE
Our only present concern is building a mote before the tide comes in!

The last few nights in the Seychelles, we spent on the
largest island, Mahe. We stayed at the Coral Strand
Hotel located right on Beau Vallon Beach - another
incredible site! It was so neat to see so many
tourists from all around the world.

We visited Victoria, the capital city of Seychelles,
which also happens to be the only city in the
Seychelles (the rest are simply called villages.) The
city is adorable! And the people are so very
friendly.

While in Port Douglas, Australia, we met a guy originally from the Seychelle Islands. He told us how
his family was evicted from the country years ago for stupid reasons and about how controlling the
government is. In deed, Michael and I were able to see this throughout our stay here. One example is if
you exchange money legally at the bank, the rate is 1 USD = 6.18 Rupee. However, if you exchange money via the black market, you can get up to 12 rupees for 1 USD. This helped us out tremendously, because instead of our 750 Rupee hotel room being $120/night, it is now only $62/night! We found out that Seychelles can be a very expensive place to visit if you do it the legal way!

The Seychelle Islands are so beautiful that we don't want to leave! Mike, of course, is talking about
moving here like he does everywhere else (except for Mauritius). However, we are extremely excited to leave for Africa tonight!
